Babymoon with my mini

Babymoon…often used for couples to get some last minute alone time in before the baby comes. In my case, I took my soon to be oldest child (and my nephew) away for the night before Wyatt has to share mom! Plus we had been itching to get some spring exploring in!

We are lucky enough to live close the one of Wisconsin’s gems, Door County. Door County is famous for many things, cherries, wine, fishing, and the beautiful views of both the bay and Lake Michigan.

We booked one night at the Stone Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay. The off season rates were hard to beat! We opted for the suite so the kiddos got their own room and mom got her own… well at least for a little bit before one of the kids migrated into my room. The rooms were very clean and the living areas were spacious. We had a great view of the harbor and a nice balcony as well.

The best part of the resort for the boys was the pool! The pool, sauna, and hot tub were open even though it’s the “covid era”. The water was some of the warmest pool water I have ever experienced so we had no problem staying in the water for a long time! I even managed to wedge my 8 month pregnant self into my swimsuit with some help from my son 🙂

We also were able to enjoy a nice authentic Wisconsin super club dinner at Nightingale Supper Club. The food was amazing! The kids had burgers and my nephew declared that he has the best burger ever! I enjoyed the tenderloin and it was cooked perfect! The only issue we had was service was a bit slow, other than that the food is definitely worth checking out!

In the morning we stopped for breakfast at another great restaurant, Morning Glory Restaurant. Breakfast was also every good. This is a popular local venue for breakfast so you may need to wait for a table, but it was worth it!

To wrap the trip up we braved the cold and wind to head to Cave Point County Park. This is a popular scenic area for a couple reasons. 1. It’s free! 2. It has views that are hard to beat! A couple pieces of advice if you are planning on checking it out. First, it’s a busy area with covid keeping many people outside. So be prepared to have to park on road and walk in. Second is the weather. If it’s a windy day outside then it’s extra windy in the park. The wind often is whipping up off of Lake Michigan. Lastly, good shoes are a must for safety. The rocks are slippery when wet and a person can very easily lose their footing and fall of the rocks. If it’s winter, then there is ice and even with ice cleats a person lingering on the edge is either brave or stupid. Overall, the park is a must stop if you are visiting Door County.

The weekend was a great success! We all had fun relaxing and enjoying the quick get away before our new addition!
